Uniscan
Limited is an independent, family owned and run company. Tom
Morris founded the company in 1983 when he designed and developed
a unique walking aid called the 'A-frame' in his garden shed.
This device revolutionised the walking frame market hitherto
dominated by the Zimmer frame. Tom's invention dispensed with
convention by incorporating a combination of unique features
not previously available on a walking frame. This groundbreaking
product offered users a strong, robust yet lightweight walking
frame with an integral folding seat and backrest, rolling
wheels and the ability to fold flat for storage. Easily carried
in the boot of a car this British designed and manufactured
product was an instant success. Utilising his extensive engineering
experience Tom had developed a simple design concept incorporating
sound engineering principles in combination with first class
quality and service to meet the needs of this sector of the
mobility market.
After a number of appearances on local
radio plus an award from Anglia Televisions 'Live Wire' programme
for innovative new business initiatives Tom was privileged
to be introduced His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales when
the future King visited the Enterprise in Essex Exhibition
at Braintree in 1992.
Today over 20 years on from the first
'A-frame' model Uniscan is established as the walking frame
specialist. From their factory in Essex Uniscan produce a
range of walking frames to suit the specialised needs and
individual budgets of their customers. The original 'A-frame'
design concept, tried, tested and proven over more than two
decades continues to provide the basis for the current range
of products. The new generation product range has been ergonomically
designed to provide users with the best possible equipment
to suit their requirements. As a journalist recently quoted
in a local newspaper article Charles moves behind a
sophisticated frame device (Uniscan Glider Plus Adjustable)
that makes your average Zimmer frame look like a mere backscratcher.
Uniscan products are the first choice with thousands of satisfied
customers' world-wide. Available in a choice of models, colours
and a range of sizes, Uniscan manufacture tailor made walking
frames to suit the individual. Strong, lightweight and visually
pleasing each model can be as individual as the user. Most
models feature: - double wheels swivel wheels on the
front for easy glide steering and either automatic braking
or locking lever braking on the rear wheels; a seat with padded
backrest; an under seat zipped storage pocket; a cane/walking
stick holder; removable shopping caddy and the ability to
fold flat for storage/transport. Optional accessories include
a tray and a shopping bag.
Uniscan offer a manufacturer two-year guarantee* against
faulty workmanship and/or material defects plus a comprehensive
refurbishment programme.
* Not the 'Grand' Glider Plus Adjustable which carries only
a one year guarantee.
English Proverb: - 'Imitation is the
highest form of flattery'
Uniscan products are successfully sold
in countries all around the world. Inevitably this success
has spawned copies. These copies mostly flooding in from The
Far East are of inferior product quality and serious issues
have been raised regarding their safety and durability. If
the Uniscan name is not on the frame it's not a Uniscan
product. We don't make frames for anyone else.
